Keep It Simple For Success

It’s a brand new year. Your brand new calendar is looking pretty clean and clear right about now. Lots of potential, opportunity and options exist on paper at this very moment. What are you going to do with this gift of the New Year?
I would like to suggest that you take care of yourself first.  Remember the instructions on an airplane if you are traveling with a companion and the oxygen masks come down, put your mask on first and then assist the others.  hat’s because if you can’t breathe, you can’t function to be of much help to anyone else.  Good plan, don’t you think?
So what would taking good care of yourself first look like at the beginning of this New Year?  Only you can truly and correctly answer this question for yourself.  What have you learned about the way you live your life so far?  Do you tend to spread yourself too thin, get involved in so many things that no one or nothing gets much quality attention from you?  If so, perhaps it is time to begin to be more selective with your commitments. Make a plan in your new planner and schedule some margin for yourself between events. Make appointments with yourself to take care of you in your day too. If you don’t schedule it in it will not happen. Make a plan and stick with it just to see that you can make a change in the way you operate your life.
What if you have turned into a couch potato? You haven’t moved from a sedentary position in recent memory.
When you do get up off the couch your bones creak and your muscles groan form the little bit you are asking them to do.
Maybe you need to make a plan to get moving.  I’m not talking about hundreds of dollars for a gym membership, I’m talking  about putting on a pair of shoes, a hat and a coat and walking around the block.  A journey of a thousand miles begins with a single step.  So does your own personal movement plan. Just move a little bit and you will be on your way.
The two examples given here are just a couple of the many things you personally could begin to change about your life.  Be a better version of yourself this year than last year. Take stock of where you are and decide what needs attention now and then begin with one small step.  By the time your new calendar is well-used you will be well on your way to creating a simpler, happier life for your self and all you serve.
